2007 Formula One Rule changes Enforced by the Formula One Administration (FIA)
  • FIA had planned to switch to a single tyre manufacturer from 2008, but Michelin had announced they will end participation in Formula 1 after 2006, leaving Bridgestone as the sole tyres supplier from 2007 to 2010.
  • Tyres will be supplied in accordance with the revised Sporting Regulations, which provide for a total of 14 sets of dry weather tyres per driver over the race weekend: four sets for Friday only, and 10 for the rest of the weekend.
  • The teams finishing 5th–11th in the previous seasons’ Constructors’ Championship will no longer be allowed to run a third car on Friday following a rule change. The teams that finish 1st–4th are already banned from doing so.
  • Engine development will be frozen from the 2006 Japanese Grand Prix, with these engines being used for the whole of 2007 and 2008. This is described as engine “homologation” by the FIA. It was previously set to be introduced in 2008.
  • All cars will be fitted with red, blue and yellow cockpit lights. The purpose is to give drivers information concerning track signals or conditions. The lights must be LEDs each with a minimum diameter of 5mm and which are fitted in order that they are directly in the driver’s normal line of sight.
  • In order to give rescue crews an immediate indication of accident severity each car must be fitted with a warning light which is connected to the FIA data logger. The light must face upwards and be recessed into the top of the survival cell no more than 150mm from the car centre line and the front of the cockpit opening and as near to the marshal neutral switch as is practical.
  • The two Friday practice sessions will expand from 60 minutes to 90 minutes. Any team will be allowed to use two cars, which may be driven by either the two race drivers or a nominated third driver.
  • The engine penalty will now only apply in the second day of the grand prix weekends. Any engine change in the first day will not be penalised.
  • No car will be allowed to enter the pits during a safety car period until all cars are in the group following the safety car. This prevents drivers from racing to the pits immediately after a safety car is deployed. In addition, any lapped cars in front of a car on the lead lap will be required to pass the safety car and restart at the end of the line-up instead of maintaining their physical position.
  • The Formula 1 teams have unanimously agreed to the voluntary early introduction of the testing agreement scheduled for 2008. This limits each team to an annual limit of 30,000 km.

Toyota unveils new car with new hopes.

Toyota unveiled its TF170 for 2007 F1 season. With their sixth Formula 1 season and last five painful seasons , I am sure they have planned a new strategy to win this season.
Tsutomu Tomita Toyota F1 Boss said that their aim is to secure a victory this season and that he expects that the toyota will be able to match Ferrari, McLaren and Renault as far as pace is concerned.

Guess what!! While i was flashing my eyes over the Toyota's site I noticed Toyota Formula 1 Team has a new sponsor "Kingfisher Airlines".For those who are unaware ,Kingfisher Airlines is an emerging Indian Airlines.

In this season we are seeing great cars which are going to burn some fuel as well as some rubber.Guys the season has already started to getting heated up.

Indian Formula 1 in 2009!!!!

I know this title is enough to excite the Indian Formula 1 fan, atleast it was for me as I am an Indian.Apparently news websites have been flashing up with stories that the Delhi Government is keen to have an Indian Grand Prix. It will be a dream come true for millions of Formula 1 fans in India like me whose dream is to watch a live formula one grand prix (mine was to watch one live with michael schumacher racing ,and me cheering him with the red colored Ferrari flag, but i will have to burn this dream to ashes.)

The move would make commercial sense too as Formula One in India has grown leaps and bounds in terms of viewership as well as commercial merchandising.Speakership's point of view also it very profitable as it is very much required for certain Formula1teams to stay back in this sport.Maybe reading this news might have given TATA a thought to sponsor Team Williams.

Its great to see the TATA logo which is now much more prominent but i wonder why they have shavers written under Philips . The new williams logo (’W') , can also be seen clearly on the nose.Nows that what i call improvement.

Ferrari unviels its 2007 car.

Ferrari released their F2007 Challenger car today. The earlier car was called 248 signifying 2.4 liters and 8 cylinders. The paint job of the newones is stunning . The car is absolutely a work of art. Front wings and Rear Wings are Red (Scarlet).Bad News is Marlboro is no longer
being the sponsors of Ferrari due to ban on tobacco advertising (in some countries). Apart from the paint job , the car also features a new chasis redesigned to meet stricter 2007 norms and redesigned front and rear wings. Vodafone no longer appear on the car , and Alice does (its an italian company). The car also features a new suspension. It’s always like having a new baby,’ said Massa when asked about how it would be like taking the car on its maiden run on Monday. Massa and Raikonnen will be driving for the Scuderia Ferrari formula one team this season. Great for the Ferrari duo.

Kimi's Debut in Ferrari

Kimi Raikkonen made his Ferrari debut on Tuesday morning, as the Italian team
resumed testing at the Vallelunga circuit near Rome.

The 27 year-old Finn took to the damp track in Ferrari’s 2006 car, the F248, for the start of the three-day session, while team mate Felipe Massa continued work with the new F2007. It is the first time Raikkonen has driven a Formula One car in anger since his final race for McLaren last October.
